Óscar Manuel Castro Videla nació el 21 de marzo de 1934. Casado, nueve hijos, trabajaba como fotógrafo para la Empresa Nacional de Minería (ENAMI). Militante del Partido Socialista, el 16 de agosto de 1974, a los 40 años, fue detenido por agentes de la DINA en su domicilio ubicado en la calle Lastarria, Santiago Centro. Además de su paso por Londres 38, ex detenidos sobrevivientes refieren haberlo visto en Cuatro Álamos y José Domingo Cañas.
